Book Synapsis

In a distant universe, Terra, a benevolent serpent from the Red Planet, embarks on a journey to the Blue Planet, Earth. Along the way, she encounters a thief, and together they establish a civilization destined to endure for eternity.

As Terra's final journey unfolds, the waning Blue Planet witnesses a convergence of spirits, including Nova, a contemporary young man, and the Voyageurs, travelers through the Sundial Land. Led by the Incumbents, who embody both the traditions of the past and a pioneering spirit, they make their way to Olympus Tie, a sacred resting place where they aim to seed life on a new planet.

The new world becomes a gathering ground for incumbents of both the past and the present, all united by the tale of the former Blue Planet. As they listen to the intrepid storyteller recounting the planet's history, they find themselves connected by a shared legacy and a profound sense of belonging.

The Incumbents is an epic tale of migration, legacy, and the enduring power of storytelling to unite disparate worlds and generations across time and space.

About Dana Labrie

Dana Labrie was born in Toronto, Ontario, with roots extending into the Pontiac Municipality, Quebec, as well as Ontario. Although her grandmother, born in Maniwaki, Quebec, passed before Dana's birth, her Algonquin ancestry and heritage deeply influenced Dana's writing, fostering a keen interest in understanding First Nations communities and their historical impact on the land.

Outside of the writing realm, Dana is often found indulging in her love for nature, kayaking, and hiking in remote locales. Her athletic prowess manifested early as a competitive swimmer in Ontario, eventually leading to a scholarship at Cleveland State University, where she not only excelled in swimming but also earned an MBA, later gaining induction into the Hall of Fame for Swimming. Currently, Dana resides in her lakeside home in Whitestone, Ontario, where the tranquil waters inspire her creative endeavors.

The genesis of Dana's literary venture into "The Incumbents" can be traced to her extensive exploration of waterways along the Ottawa River and French River. Intrigued by the journeys of the Voyageurs and captivated by the rich tapestry of First Nations communities, Dana's imagination was ignited, leading her to craft a narrative that weaves together history, culture, and adventure.

Drawing inspiration from television programs unraveling the mysteries of the Universe, Dana infuses her writing with a sense of wonder and curiosity, shaping her thematic choices and narrative style. She firmly believes in the transformative power of storytelling, aspiring to educate and inspire readers to contemplate their place in the cosmos and the interconnectedness of humanity and its ancestral lineage. Through her work, Dana encourages others to "think big" and embrace the profound connections that bind us all together.

Dana Labrie Painter

Dana Labrie is an enthusiastic outdoor landscape artist who has developed an impressionistic style all her own. Having roots in beautiful scenic Ontario Canada, she has lived most of her adult life in Ohio and Texas, USA. She has had the opportunity to travel and camp in remote desert areas of the Southern US, and under the tall pines of Eastern Canada. Dana's paintings reflect a snapshot in time to be captured forever, a reminder of a quiet reflection of a place once observed.

Inspired by nature. Inspired by beauty..

Inspired by camping and painting outdoors to promote health and well being, she decided to start painting with bright impressionistic color to capture landscapes that reflect time of day and year. Cool and warm colors alternate to create a sense of time and place; and thick brush strokes remind us of the strength of nature and random evolution. She had received her art background through advanced art courses at AY Jackson Secondary School in Toronto and received a minor in art at Cleveland State University in Ohio. Dana continues to paint at her dual studios in Whitestone, Ontario, Canada. Her work continues to evolve, as do her outdoor subjects over the transition of time.
